The Introduction to Pottery Glazing Techniques course is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in the art of glazing pottery. This course covers the essential concepts, tools, and techniques used in glazing, from understanding glaze types to applying different decorative finishes. Participants will learn how to mix, apply, and fire glazes, while also exploring creative ways to enhance their pottery pieces with color, texture, and patterns.
Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will:
Understand the different types of glazes and their properties.
Learn how to prepare and apply glazes using various methods.
Learn basic and advanced glaze application techniques (brushing, dipping, pouring, and more).
Develop the ability to troubleshoot common glazing problems.
Explore decorative techniques, such as wax resist, sgraffito, and underglazing.
Gain confidence in firing glazed pottery and understanding kiln behavior.
Create glazed pottery pieces by the end of the course.

Things to Note:
Clay and Materials: All clay, tools, and glazes are included in the class. (Fee includes all clay* and glaze materials, tools and firing; 5 small pieces only. Once ready, they will have to be self collected or delivery can be arranged.)
* Clay tiles for testing will be provided. You can bring 1-2 bisque pieces.
Aprons: Available upon request.
Nail Care: Please keep your nails short for the class.
Collection: Please collect your finished pieces within 3 weeks of completion.
Age Requirement: Participants must be 12 years and above. For younger participants, kindly contact the studio.
Cancellation Policy: Due to limited studio space, payment must be made upfront. You may reschedule or cancel your class up to 12 hours before the start time. After this period, the full class fee will be charged.
